Sliding-induced Microstructure of Cold-Sprayed Copper Coating Observed by Electron Channeling Contrast Imaging

چکیده
Cold gas dynamic spray is a coating process for fabrication of materials that are sensitive to heat and oxidation such as copper [1]. In cold spray, the particles are accelerated to supersonic velocities typically between 500 1200 m/s [1]. Upon high speed impact, the cold sprayed particles undergo extensive plastic deformation at very high strain-rates (up to 10 9 s -1 near impact interfaces), under which conditions complex microstructures are generated such as high density dislocation walls, deformation twins, elongated and equi-axed grains and sub-grains [2-3].

Characterization of the Microstructure and Electrical Conductivity of Plasma-Sprayed La_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}CoO_{3} Coating
Lanthanum strontium cobalt oxide (LSCO) has been employed as cathode and intercollector materials for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). In the present study, the La0:5Sr0:5CoO3 layer was deposited by atmospheric plasma spray (APS). The effect of heat treatment on microstructure and electrical conductivity of the LSCO deposits was examined. The electrical conductivity of the deposits along the lam...

Reconstituted nanostructured powders were plasma sprayed using various processing conditions to produce nanostructured alumina–titania coatings. Properties of the nanostructured coatings were related to processing conditions through a critical plasma spray parameter (CPSP) that in turn, can be related to the amount of unmelted powder incorporated into the final coating. Those coatings that reta...
متن کاملCorrosion of Cold Spray Deposited Copper Coating on Steel Substrates
The corrosion behavior of copper cold spray coatings on a carbon steel substrate was compared to that of commercially available wrought copper under the conditions anticipated in a nuclear waste repository. Corrosion potential and linear polarization resistance measurements were conducted over 90 d to 120 d in 3.0 mol/L NaCl under anoxic (1) and oxygenated-toanoxic (2) conditions to simulate th...

Cold-spraying of 1100 Al powder particles onto 1100 Al substrate was accomplished using carrier gases 100 vol.% He and a mixture of He–20 vol.% N2. TEM characterization correlates very well the occurrence of dislocations, presence of oxide, and surface instability phenomenon with observed mechanical and corrosion properties of the cold-sprayed coating. 2005 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Els...
متن کاملEffect of Carbide Particle Size on the Microstructure, Mechanical properties, and Wear Behavior of HVOF-sprayed WC-17% Co Coatings
This study investigates the effect of carbide particle size on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and abrasive wear resistance of WC-17%Co HVOF-sprayed coatings. The characteristics of WC-1, WC-2, and WC-3 coatings with carbide sizes of 1 µm, 0.9 µm, and 0.5 µm, respectively, were also investigated. WC-1 coating experienced the maximum carbon loss of 42%, while WC-2 and WC-3 coatings un...
